Vincent Cross is a folk singer/songwriter with roots in Ireland and Australia, now based in New York City. Known for his rustic authenticity and poetic songwriting, he has been praised as “impeccably gifted” by Big City Rhythm and Blues. His music echoes the influence of 60s folk revival legends like Pete Seeger, Woody Guthrie, and Bob Dylan.
Cross, who often performs solo on vintage instruments, has shared stages with Glen Hansard, Odetta, and Chris Thile. He’s toured the US, Europe, and Australia and has performed at top festivals, from Norway’s TelemarkFestivalen to Texas’s Dripping Springs Songwriter Festival.
Cross has released four critically acclaimed albums, beginning with Home Away From Home (2008) and A Town Called Normal (2013). His 2016 release, Old Songs For Modern Folk, debuted at #2 on the International Folk DJ Albums Chart and was nominated for Best Tribute Album by the Independent Music Awards.
His 2020 concept album, The Life & Times of James “The Rooster” Corcoran, based on an ancestor’s life, drew praise from PopMatters and Brooklyn Vegan. His upcoming album, a place where songs come to live (June 2025), features the IAMA-finalist single “In the Eyes of My Father.”
His latest album 'A Place Where Songs Come to Live' invites listeners into a raw, reflective journey shaped by real people, places, and values. With a sound grounded in country-infused roots rock and folk-style storytelling, the album explores themes like memory, care, masculinity, the meaning of words and the relationships that shape us, weaving together tales of family, friendship, love, and loss, capturing the fragile beauty of human connection.
